Blog Header Image Cutting Off

    Am uploading various size header images for the blog page from Appearence>Customize>Blog Layout. The header looks fine from within the blog layout preview. But as soon as I go to the actual page, the image is cropped on both the left and right sides… doesn’t span the entire length of the header as on other pages. Here is a link to the page.

    Any ideas on how to fix this would be great.

  • Hi Steve,

    It looks like you’re using an old version of the theme. I’d try updating to the latest version (1.2.4) here first:

    However, It’s always a good idea to make a backup of your site’s files and database before updating your themes or plugins, just in case something goes wrong.

    When using the newer version of the theme, I’m seeing a class of blog-archive-header-bg being added to the header element which you don’t have on your site.

    That class sets background-size: cover !important; on the header element, and enables the image to stretch across the width of the site.

    Updating will likely make that work automatically, as well as the other fixes mentioned at the bottom of the readme file in the changelog section.

    Unfortunately, that didn’t work.. installed both the WP and the Sensible Theme… still have the same issue… Cleared the cache.. uploaded different images.. still getting the same problem… is their a minimum image size that I need to upload?

    That’s odd. It should work regardless of the image size.

    Are you adding the image through the Featured Image section for that page?

    No, I’m adding it through the theme customization. Appearance>Customize>Blog Layout.

    I tried setting it as a featured image but no image would appear. Seems as if it has to be done thru the theme customization.

    .. fixed it..thought I was on 1.5 but I was 1.4… updating to 1.5 fixed the issue.

    Ah, yes! I’d forgotten I’d used that after trying the featured image.

    Just for the benefit of others, did you update your version of WordPress to 4.5? Is that what made things work? (I was using 4.5 when I tested this.)

    I updated to 4.5 running Sensible 1.4 and that did not resolve the issue.

    Running 4.5 AND 1.5 fixed it.
