Blog home page is not displaying correctly

  • My blog has all of a sudden stopped displaying correctly on the home page. It was fine a couple of days ago when I last checked but for some reason has now gone all weird. It is displaying fine when you click on a blog post but the landing page looks a complete mess, what could have happened?

    I hope someone can help me:(

  • Haven’t looked too closely, roomfor5, but you appear to have a big old bunch of stuff in a table before the HTML tag…

    Hi Bren, thanks for looking. Yes I have always had that there (well for at least a year and a half) and it’s been fine. I haven’t messed with the appearance or anything, just added new posts so I have no idea what could’ve gone wrong?? I have re installed the new version of wordpress but it has made no difference so it’s obviously something in my content folder:(

    Ah yes… can see that on the single posts now – thought that might have been causing it. Either way, it’s pretty poor form to have any sort of markup outside of the HTML tags (besides the doctype declaration).

    Seeing as you haven’t changed your theme at all, I’m guessing it’s something in one of your posts. Have you tried unpublishing the latest couple of posts? This would help you find the problematic one. There may be some tags inside that content that are causing the issue. I know that I’ve seen this sorta thing happen when our clients include comment tags and such like in their posts.
