• hi folks.
i’m a administrator for a website with a 300 users database and want to give my users a personal blog.
is it possible to create 300 (more or less) different blogs with a single installation of WordPress?
    Best regards.
    Cristian

  • This has been answered before. Try doing a search for it, I do remember that there was a method to do it, although not so clean, it’s what you’ll have to stick with till WordPress 1.3 comes around…

i did run a search before posting but couldn’t find anything, i guess i should search better.
thnx a lot for the reply.
    greets.

With WP v1.2, you will have to run the installer 300 times and change the database field prefix in line 13 of the file wp-config.php for each user. Alternately you could wait and see if multiple blog functionality will be included in version 1.3.

I wonder how big a MySQL database would be with 300 different table prefixes running in it. He may be better off creating 300 sub directories and letting them all have at it with Blogger until some kind of multi-blog functionality appears in WordPress. It sounds like a nightmare to me.

you may try searching for multipress. i really don’t remember the forum links but its here somewhere…
    Abhi.
