    Hello-
I am creating a company website. Our company also has a blog. I want to have a Page on my company website, titled ‘Blog’. Whenever the ‘Blog’ page is clicked, I want to be navigated to our company blog. So basically, the website and blog are 2 separate entities, but the blog needs to be featured on our website. How can I accomplish this?
    Thank you!

  • Hello, Bethany, & welcome. I’m sorry–I’m a bit unclear–has the blog already been created?

    Hello abletec,
The blog has not been created yet. However, I do have a blog in Google Blogger that we would ideally like to transfer over to www.ads-software.com. If not, we can start from scratch.
The website has been created already though.
P.S. We are hosting this on our own web server internally.

Hi again, Bethany. You will need to create at least 2 pages–1 as your homepage & 1 for your blog. So, you’ll go to ‘Pages > Add New’ & create a page for your homepage. Give it a title–Welcome or Home as an example, & put whatever content you wish there. Once finished, publish it.

Next, create a 2nd page, entitled Blog, for example. This page should have *no* content. Again, publish it.

Next, please go to ‘Settings > Reading’. For your front page, choose the static page radio button, & then choose the homepage you created from the dropdown list. Likewise, choose your blog page as your ‘posts’ page.

You can find how to import posts from blogger here:

Please let us know if this helped, or if you need additional clarification on anything.

Ahh, you are awesome!! That is exactly what I was looking for. I thought it was going to be much harder. I have done all of the steps you explained and everything worked.

One more question… Is it possible to display the sidebar on ONLY the blog page, and not all of the other pages I have created? As of right now, the sidebar (displaying ‘Recent Posts’, ‘Comments’, ‘Archives’, etc.) is shown on every page.

Bethany, to some extent, your last question is rather theme related. Certain themes support this type of behavior, others do not. What is being displayed in the sidebar is known as a widget. Some themes allow you to specify that you only want this particular widget in the sidebar of your posts page, for example.

I’ll tell you what I do, & then you can experiment around & see what fits your needs best. In ‘Settings > Discussion’, I disable comments, trackbacks, & pingbacks. This disables these for everything, so in order to enable them on the blog, one has to do the following.

Edit the blog page & click the ‘Screen Options’ link. Check the options for comments & trackbacks & pingbacks. What this does is enable you to see the options, & you can then check the appropriate boxes to enable both comments & trackbacks & pingbacks on that page.

Let us know if that was helpful, or if I’ve actually succeeded in muddying the waters.

Not confusing at all ?? I was able to make those changes. Now I have the option for comments on my blog posts but none on my pages.

When looking for a new theme, what should I look for exactly, if I want to be able to specify that I only want widgets in the sidebar of your posts page/posts? What verbiage/function should I look for in the description?

Hi, Bethany. Looks like there are a few plugins that can help you do this. 1 is the very famous JetPack. The other is called Display Widgets, & you can get it from:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/display-widgets/
That way, you can keep your theme & hide your widgets. Kinda like having your cake & eating it, too, I guess. Lol.

HTH? If so, would you please mark the thread as resolved. If not, of course, then please feel free to ask more questions.

I really appreciate all of your help!!

Bethany, if we’ve resolved your problem, would you please be so kind as to mark it resolved so we can feel free to go on to help others who are experiencing difficulties?
