• Hi,

I am looking for a theme to use for IT consulting that has no mention of blogs or blogging.

Finding it hard to find one that has no mention of blogs, no reference to blogroll, posts or anything like that. And I find it hard to take out any references to blogs or posts, as one I had had all its ‘pages’ as references to postings. I changed to another, an Ashford one, and it’s close, but, not it’s quite the way I want it.

Can anyone recommend a simple, good, professional, free non-blogging theme that would be good for my IT consulting business?

  • You can make static pages from any theme — and remove anything you don’t want on the page. But no, you are not likely to find any themes that do not include the OPTION of blog pages — since that is where WP’s roots are and what it grew out of. See Pages and Static Front Page.

And BTW, bumping your own posts is against the forums rules…

    WPyogi,

I appreciate the information. I have never heard of the term bumping, and any bumping was not intentional.

Sounds like you think that is what I did on purpose. I only want to get information. Nothing more.

I, and others, have used that method on other CMS sites that I work with. There have been no less-than-friendly from such actions there.

Yes, and I was simply giving you information — as bumping will get your posts removed if you persist in it — as you can see your second post WAS removed by a moderator.

My apologies if it sounded unfriendly — that was not at all my intention.

Wow, shoot the man down why don’t you instead of truly answering the question. I want to know too, is there a blogless theme? I don’t care if it mentions posts widgets in the sidebar and I do know about the static pages…

I would like a theme that is cms in nature and highly configurable through option panels as to the layout of the thing.

    ??

Nope, all WP themes have blog pages as an option, but they can also be all static pages if that’s what you want.

Every Theme in the official Theme repository – at least every one updated in the past year and a half or so – is perfectly suitable for a site that does not incorporate a blog.

All you need to do is create a static front page, and not specify a Page for Posts. Voila! Your site no longer presents a blog posts index.

Will you still see the blog functionality in the WP-Admin area? Yes, of course. But that’s not a Theme issue; Themes are entirely Presentational – they merely specify what your site visitors see. If you want to remove any mention of blog posts from the WP-Admin area, you’ll probably need to look for a Plugin to do that.
