• Recently I upgraded to v2.8 – in order to do it automatically via the dashboard I had to mess with file permissions but eventually got upgraded. After upgrading I went on to re-enabling my handful of plugins. The WP-SuperCache is one plugin that I have had disabled for a while but decided that I was in the mood to get that working finally (since my host still has the old php and it runs in safe mode making the config of WP-SC a bit trickier). That seemed to go through as well after some more permissions and group ownership tinkering as well as modifying the .htaccess (automatically done by WP-SC).

The next time I tried to load up my blog (maybe a couple days later) all I get is a blank white screen. If I view the source there’s nothing there… nothing – which would explain the nothing in the browser window.

I then proceed to type in /wp-admin onto the end of my url and get the login box, then login to the dashboard. I then click on the ‘view my site’ link up top and the page loads. I switch to my notebook and load up the site no problem. Open up a couple other browsers all is fine.

A day or two goes by and the same thing happens again. I can’t get the blog to load without first logging in. Then it loads fine for an unknown period of time. I am now almost two weeks into this I guess (since v2.8 was released) and it’s starting to stress me out.

I’ve tried disabling WP-SuperCache and that doesn’t seem to do anything, but I’m not sure if the .htaccess rules are getting disabled (I would think that they are).

I’m also worried that I may have somehow screwed up my file & directory permissions and group ownerships as well.

What can I do and can anyone help?

    Thank You In Advance,
    Chris Heath
