blog no longer loads quickly

    my site and blog have been up and running flawlessly for well over a year now. I recently upgraded the WordPress and things seemed to work fine.

    several days ago, the blog stopped loading for Explorer users and Safari users would load the page in well over 5 minutes

    I don’t know what to do and the help support at my web hosting is no help … perhaps they’d be more helpful in their native language, whatever that happens to be

    the site is https://www.chicagoareafire.com and the blog is accessed via the ‘News’ button

  • The blog loads quite quickly if javascript is disabled, so I suspect you have a bad plugin or broken theme. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    thank you – I had a Contact Me Widget which evidently was the problem. I have deactivated it and the blogs loads quickly.

    I appreciate your help!
