Blog not reachable while wordpress is making a database backup?

  • In regular intervals, approx. once a month, my blog is not reachable for a couple of hours. It doesn’t say, “error: server not found” – the screen just remains white. During this time my blog also cannot be reached via FTP. This is the case since 9 months.
    My question is, is this caused by my blog software or is there some other cause, e.g. the provider doing some maintainance service?

    I’d guess that’s more the issue. Talk to your host.

    Backing up a WordPress database shouldn’t take long…seconds/minutes, not hours.
