• I am working with a client who had an agency design their site, https://www3.teainc.org/

They didn’t really set up their blog page. They set up a ‘blog-like’ page @ https://www3.teainc.org/whats-new/

There are 5 pages, 15 posts, however, each page was manually created, (whats-new2, 3, …) they do not ‘roll’. So, if someone wants to add posts, they will have to manually shuffle all the posts around.

So, I created a copy of the site, created a new page, ‘whatsnewnew’, and set it as the blog page in
Appearance/Customize/Static Front Page/Posts Page (as it was blank before):

It does not look like the other ‘blog’ page, and only has 7 posts, instead of 15.

How can I have it look like the other page and use the blog roll functionality?

  • This could be controlled by your theme. What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

it’s something customized from the design team.

They have their logo in place of where you would see the theme image, however, it says themes.muffingroup.com/betheme Version: 10.9 next to that

I took a closer look. Some of the titles and the excerpts do not necessarily match the title and content.

In fact, some are posts, some are links, and some are pages.

The first entry, a post. The second just goes to an external link.

The third one is a good example of what’s going on – the title and excerpts say one thing, but if you click Read More, the corresponding page has a different title, and the content does not match the excerpt.

So, basically, it’s statically set up to looks like a blog, not behave like one.

They really like the way it looks though. Can I set this up so it behaves like a real blog, yet have some of the titles and excerpts differ from the actual title and content?

I have half the answer. Looks like I can change the excerpt. On https://lorelleteaches.com/2012/10/15/how-to-set-and-manage-excerpts-in-wordpress/, there’s a section:
    “To Set An Explicit Excerpt”.

Now, can I make the actual post title and the one that shows on the blog page different?

I got it all set up. Took several plugins and some other adjustments, but now I know it’s possible.
