    Hi,

My blog, Crucis Road has been up and running for one and a half weeks now (since Tuesday 15) and it still won’t show up in Google Search when you type in ‘crucis road’.

If you type ‘crucisroad’ (without a space) then it will show up, but I’m pretty sure people aren’t likely to type that in.

I have submitted a sitemap to Google Webmasters, but under ‘Search Appearance – Structured Data’, it says all of my pages have errors (either ‘Missing : author’ or ‘Missing : updated’. Is this linked to my blog’s poor search results, or is it a definitely an issue I have with WordPress?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It will take several weeks for your new site to appear in Google. They do have the entire internet to index after all. ??

Which Sitemap plugin are you using? It sounds like it’s missing some basic XML sitemap syntax.

There are many factors in play here when it comes to SEO, yet please also check in your “settings” / “reading” make sure it is unchecked for “Discourage search engines from indexing site” Research SEO and the numerous items you need to take into account to help you with your numerous search engines. More then I could ever type here.

XML sitemaps, SEO plugins, site verifications, oh boy where to start. webmaster tools in the various search engines site to also submit your site, keep it up soon with time you too will be a champion ??

Thanks for your quick responses, guys.

MacManX: My site has technically been up for about two months, but I was using a Maintenance Mode plugin until the 15th (when the site launched) – will Google have only started to index the site after the plugin was deactivated? I’m using the Google XML Sitemaps plugin if that helps but I haven’t played around with the settings at all.

Amando.Miami: The ‘Discourage search engines from indexing this site’ box is unchecked but thanks anyway. I do have the ‘All in One’ SEO plugin but being a bit of a novice I guess it’ll take time to get used to it – I’m sure I’ll get there eventually ??

Yeah, Google generally won’t index maintenance pages. ??

Your SEO plugin includes sitemap support, so you should remove your separate sitemap plugin ASAP, the two could be conflicting.

For help with configuring the plugin, I recommend asking over at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/all-in-one-seo-pack

Thanks, MacManX – I’ve gotten rid of the Google sitemap plugin and resubmitted my sitemap to Google Webmasters. I’ve also brushed up on my knowledge of the SEO plugin so fingers crossed what I’ve done will correct any errors I had before.
