Hi I installed the CPT plugin last night and created a video custom post type and added a video post. I then found that the post type does not display on the front end 404 error so realised that was another hurdle that I needed to address. But this morning as I went to check my blog, I also noticed that it also has a 404 error. I can access individual blog posts but not my actual blog page.

I then decided to delete the video post, unregister the video CPT and deactivate the plugin to see if this would help – nothing. I re-saved my permalinks – nothing.

I’m not sure how to fix this, please help.

One thing for future note is that if you already have permalinks enabled, and then create a post type, you generally have to flush the permalink rules. I’ve tried to have the plugin do that for you, but I’m not sure it’s ever worked like it should, which would be a minor bug on my end.

Not sure why the blog is suddenly having issues. We don’t do anything to touch that part of a given website. Have you verified that you still have the Page of “Blog” and that it’s set as the Posts page in Setting > Reading ?

Hi Michael, I tried all of the things above but no go. Also I noticed that now all of my pages have a 404 error and the blog page only works if I change the blog posts to the front page.

I’m not sure how but for all my pages to come back 404 error, something must have gone wrong somewhere. PS. thank you for your quick response – as you can imagine I’m a bit flustered and upset about this.

I wish I had better answers for you as well. Do links work and pages display and whatnot when you turn permalinks off and just go with the default option?

It’s working now – not sure what happened but I’m thanking God it’s working now ?? Just in case anyone is interested I also changed themes, didn’t work and deactivated all plugins – that showed my homepage on every page but at least no more 404 errors ??

And then I flushed permalinks again, I think that did it but not 100% sure.

    Thanks for your efforts tho

I’m just glad things are working again.
