    Hi jterway,
    The theme works this way, if an post has the featured images, the header automatically take its place (in the post).

    You want the header image will always remain one of the home page?

    I would like the image to always remain the one on the home page. I would prefer to do it in the functions file of a child theme but I am willing to comment some code out on the main theme if that is what it takes. If the theme gets an update, I can comment out again.
