Hi,
Go to the Customizer – layout and choose the right sidebar.
That should do it ??Annie
Hi Annie,
No luck, I have tried that as well.Normally in the pages editor you should get an option.
For the home page I use Elementor… but that should not make a difference to any other pages?Thank You
Hi,
Ok and in each page itself, have you selected the” standard template”?
Annie
If that does not help, please deactivate all other plugins and see if the issue is gone.
If so, start activating all plugins one by one untill it happens again.
In that case you found the cullprit and can ask help to the developer of that plugin.Hi annie,
Each page is standard, all pages has the correct page attribute, only my blog page doesn’t and I don’t know why.I have allot of plugins installed so do not really want to go deactivating all of them…
Hi Obelix,
I understand, that can be a pain, but sometimes ( even often ) the best way to find out what is causing this.
However, as you are using the Elementor Pagebuilder, it might have something to do with this.
So you might want to only deactivate that one and see if the problem is gone.Thing is, as soon as you assign a page to being a “blog page” in wordpress settings, the option to choose a template is gone, because by opting for that page to act as a WordPress blog page, you automatically chose the blog page option which in WordPress will have a sidebar.
However if you have set the sidebar to the right in storefront layout, this sidebar should be on the right. Here’s where the pagebuilder might be interfering…not sure but worth finding out.
Just to be safe, you do not have some caching going on, that might not show the actual layout?

Hi Annie,
You really understand WP…
I tried your advice, seems Elementor is the culprit plus another Elementor plugin to do with page width…
I do have a caching plugin but I do clear it fairly often.I still need to use Elementor but it will probably be my last site using Elementor, I did start looking at Divi Builder and might just go ahead buying the full Elegant Themes package.
Thx for your help Annie, I did learn a bit from this!
Hi Obelix,
Good to know what is causing this.
I tried out Elementor yesterday for the first time, and must say cool pagebuilder.
I was not able to make full row width yet ( I mean really cover the full page ), but only played with it for less then a hour.Me I use Visual Composer and SiteOrigin pagebuilders. I can tell you these two do not intervene with the original blog page settings.
Thing is, most pagebuilders ( Elementor included ) have special blog widgets in them, so you can create more customized blogs. So you might want to deselect the standard blog page in WordPress ( that page will get to be a “normal” page where you can choose the page template again.
You could try use the elementor blog widget to show your blogs. I have not tried it yet with the Elementor, just saying that might be an option for you.
Personally I prefer to stick to Storefront ( same developers for Woocommerce and storefront so best quess they keep things optimized to work well together ).
Keep in mind that switching to another theme and other pagebuilder will almost mean you can start all over….lot of work to get it all looking the same again.
Annie
Oh, yes the caching plugin.
“fairly often” could still mean you are not seeing the actual changes?
You really need to flush the cache after the changes made in layout, to make sure the cache is not the reason why you are not seeing the changes you made.Caching is probably on your websites level and on your own device ( desktop, etc ) in the browser you are using..
Hi Annie,
Sjoe starting over is not an option…
too much work and I have more site to build plus I am concentrating on SEO, marketing etc now as well as content writing, need to get someone for that…I also check the site on 3 different PC’s as well as my iMac at home, but for now I am not going to worry too much.
You seem like a real pro… honest opinion on https://www.morewebsitehits.com ???
My first WP site recently was https://www.drrowanneurology.co.za (99% done)I came from using Wix (yes I know – but it is fast and easy) to start learning WP 2 months ago and now has 2 live sites, anoother one by end Dec and a blog…
Thank You
Agree, starting over would be a real pain, and having the sidebar on the left is no biggy eather. I suppose you want it on the right so the content appears first when on smaller view?
Your site look nice and clean, rather easy to navigate as well. A bit sober, but that never stopped a site from attracting visitors, as long as the content is interesting enough for them.
A few things that I encountered were:
The moving icons on home do not indicate what they are for?
Some short discription or a tooltip when hovering over it, might work better Keep the small mobile users in mind all times! )The engaging blue button on the right was not clear to me eather. It looks like a chat with us, and in a way it is, but I think some discription like: chat with us using Facebook messenger would clarify things.
I for one just clicked on it, because I was wondering what it was…thinking a chat function.
However first time it opened I just saw what looks like a Facebook feed and closed it not knowing what to do with it.
And yes if one takes the time ( which I did when I clicked on it a second time ) it becomes clear one can leave a Facebook messenger message to contact you.Although lots of visitors have a facebook profile, not all of them will and wont be able to contact you.
Long story short, make sure every button is crystal clear to your visitors. Visitors are known to be in a hurry and will leave the page under 3 seconds if they do not find what they were looking for.
Hope this helps,
Annie-

Hi Annie,
It surely helps allot, I will pay attention to those items mentioned.
The niche for the website has low traffic anyways, as we all know it is not a highly sought after market with low traffic unless you put allot of effort in.So basically saying it is a nice live website to practice WP on. Even as it stands orders is enough each month to keep us going but not getting rich ??
I am planning allot more online, especially if you look at sites like Flippa.com instead of designing websites I am planning on buying existing website from May 2017… then revamping them and either keep or sell again, sites that are already established and has traffic. Allot of those site are WP so I need to get to know WP.
I also looked around on your website, wow you portfolio is impressive and you seem like an impressive / honest WP expert!!!
Can I sent you a PM?
We might be able to do some work together next year if you are interested?
(regardless if where we are, I saw you live in Holland and I live in South Africa)Thank You Annie!
Hi Obelix,
Glad it helps and thanks for the compliment!
I like to work on smaller projects so large complicated sites like Flippa.com are not my cup of tea to be honest. If by that time you think or wonder if I can assist you, feel free to use our contactform on our website or PB on Facebook or Linkedin( I do not like to put e-mail on a public forum, spam enough as it is haha ).
I will be happy to give you an honest and realistic idea on the subject!
For now, good luck and lots of fun working with WordPress!
AnnieOk cool Annie… once I get there I will defo be in contact
Thank You
