I am creating a custom homepage and in this process I’m trying to make a /blog/ page to show all my posts.

But, when I tried to create /blog/ page, the slug was like /blog-2/.

I checked /blog/ page and it was redirecting to the home page.

I never created /blog/ page before and I didn’t redirect it.

I checked all the redirections and there was no sign of /blog/ page.

There was no redirection rule in .htaccess either.

I deactivated all the plugins and checked one by one but still the issue persisted.

I also saved permalinks again but no change.

When there is no page shown in the dashboard, then how is it redirecting to the home page.

I cleared the cache but still the issue existed.

I seriously want /blog/ page as I don’t want to settle for /blog-2/ page.

Could someone please enlighten me? Thanks in advance.

What do you have as the posts and home pages in SETTINGS->READING?

Presently the home page is displaying latest posts. I haven’t changed the posts and home page settings yet.

That’s why /blog is your home page. It may be a theme thing if you didn’t create a page with the slug “blog”.

Thank you so much for your priceless help Steven.

If it’s a theme thing, then slug may be unavailable. Shall I need to change the theme or create any other slug like Blogposts?

To see if it’s a theme thing, temporarily change the theme to twentytwentyone. What happens?

Also, do you have an image named “blog”? That could create a conflicting page, too.

I changed the theme to Twentytwentyone and also renamed the image named blog. But, the issue still persisted.

Did the slug change for the image? You may have to change that as well.

Yes, the slug was changed but no change.

Please provide a link to a page on your site where we can see this. Thanks.

I can see that both blog and blog-2 are your home *and* blog page.

    <body id="blog" class="home blog main vcwb multi-author-false">

I see “vc” in there. I wonder if this is a visual composer thing. What happens if you disable all plugins (just as a test).

I deactivated all the plugins but failed to create the /blog/ page.

When I deactivated the Visual composer, it was <body id="blog" class="home blog main">.

But, still I wasn’t able to create /blog/ page.

I couldn’t find the real culprit.
