I have followed these instructions so many times:

    https://www.kadencethemes.com/creating-a-blog-page-with-virtue/

My page is a Blog Template. I have selected one specific category under Blog List Options. Made sure reading settings does not have a posts page selected and I have published posts under the specified category.

My home page simply shows up blank! What am I doing wrong?

I want one category of posts to show up on my homepage with the post title, image thumbnail and then the read more.

I have it working now – additionally I needed to change Home Blog Settings to limit the posts to one category along with the actual Blog Template category setting.

But is there any way to change the appearance of how the blog entries appear on the homepage? I can’t seem to get rid of the three word excerpt before read me and it adds them to a grid of two across.

Also the pictures of the sub-category post entries only found through the sidebar only work using both head content and featured image to display the image and the hover glow effect and click to view larger screen that I cannot remove like I would if these images were in the editor. How do I go about changing how these images behave? They also do this when clicking on the posts and conflict with the images for those posts. I have already turned off hide image border in Misc and it does not change the hover glow effect.

Having a Blog page on your home page is different then creating one to be a specific blog page.

For a blog page on your home page you actually want to make your home page the latest posts page but if you do this you can’t limit the page to only show 1 category, it shows all. Then in your home page options in the theme options you have to enable page content and disable latest posts.

You don’t have to have the head content be an image? You can set the head content to none and just add your image into the content area.
