I set up a Blog page on my website and set it as the Posts page under Settings –> Reading.

Everything has been going well until tonight, when I deleted my old blog page. (In an attempt to set up a redirect from blog.mydomain.com to mydomain.com/blog)

Now when I create a new Blog page and set it as Posts page, I can’t change the permalink to this page as mydomain.com/blog.

    It only accepts mydomain.com/blog-2.

I deleted that and tried again, and again. Now it is at mydomain.com/blog-4.

I don’t know what’s going on and what I should do to have it back to /blog.
The very strange thing is that, when I enter on my browser mydomain.com/blog, it automatically redirects to /blog-4.

    Anyone has any idea?

I also noticed that when I tried to change it to something else, say mydomain/blogger, that’s ok. But just not /blog. Very strange. And very annoying..

Go to the Posts or Pages section of your admin panel, select “Trash” near the top (will only appear if posts or pages are in the trash) and click the “Empty Trash” button.

    Brilliant!!! That solves it.

Such a simple fix I feel dumb haha.

Thank you very much. I can sleep much easier now.
