• To explain my question in more detail:

My blog page in the editor is not appearing on my website. The page that is appearing, I have no idea where it is coming from, it is not appearing in the editor.

I have a similar problem with my shop page. I am listing products, they are showing up on the site, but when I look at the shop page in the editor, nothing appears on the page that I am able to edit.

Please let me know what I should do.

    Thank you!!

  • The page that you choose to show the blog index only provides the URL for the list of posts. The content that you store in that page is not displayed, unless you switch the blog to be another page. The theme can use the page title, but not all themes do.
The reason is that because you chose a page to show the list of posts, then WP changes the main query from a single page to multiple posts, and the theme simply displays whatever is queried. The list is dynamically generated, and has nothing to do with what you put in the editor.

It might be similar for your shop page, but since that is done by a plugin, I don’t know what it is doing.

What do you suggest that I do to fix this? If I switch themes, I’m afraid that it will just be a gamble that this problem won’t happen again.

    Thank you!

I think you misunderstood what I said.
Basically, there is nothing broken, so there is no fix. You don’t edit dynamic pages, since they aren’t stored in the database. You can switch themes all day long and make no difference.

Oh I see. So, basically if all of my thumbnails are coming up as rectangles on the blog page and I want them as squares, there’s nothing I can do to fix this because that is just the way the theme is.

    Is that correct?

    Thank you for your help.

That is different than changing the content.
The theme is responsible for the layout of the dynamic pages. It often has options (in the Customizer) that you can choose to affect featured images and layout, but options are not required.
If the change you want is style-related, you can add CSS in the Customizer.
For image sizes, though, you would need to make a child theme or switch themes, if your theme doesn’t have an option for changing the sizes.
