    Hestia version: 2.1.1

    When the right sidebar is enabled on a Blog, there is just an empty space where the right sidebar should be so it looks like the sidebar is missing entirely – but actually the sidebar appears directly below the content at the bottom of the page to the left.

    You can easily reproduce this:
    * Fresh wordpress installation
    * Install Hestia 2.1.1
    * Add a blog post
    * Add some widgets to the Sidebar
    * Edit the blog to display right sidebar
    * See that the right column is empty and the sidebar is actually at the bottom of the page on the left.

    (Note that this bug effects Blogs only – when the right sidebar is enabled on Pages, it appears correctly on the right hand side as expected).

  • Hi,

    Can you please share your site so we can see the exact problem?

    Thank you,

    Hi @rodicaelena,

    Sure, here’s an example of a blog where it is an issue:

    https://www.spudontherun.com/2017/11/24/santa-marta-colombia/

    You can see that it looks like the sidebar isn’t there. But when you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page you’ll see the sidebar at the bottom on the left.

    Let me know if you need any more from me.

    Thanks!

    Hi @philbates35,

    Thank you for the details. I couldn’t replicate your issue on my side, so I suspect it’s either a specific configuration, or something from the content of your site that’s causing this.
    Could you please update to the latest version of theme? Check if the same thing happens for a new simple post , that contains just a piece of text?

    Let me know.
    Regards,
    Rodica

    Hi @rodicaelena,

    I just updated to the latest 2.2.0 version, created a temporary unpublished blog post (has to be a blog post, not a page!) with just text and the issue still happens:

    Thanks,

    Hi @philbates35,

    And have you done any custom changes to the theme?

    Hi @rodicaelena,

    No custom changes and I hardly have any plugins, but I disabled them just in case and it turns out it was caused by the presence of the “Social Media and Share Icons (Ultimate Social Media)” plugin. I deactivated that plugin and the sidebar is back to normal.

    So to replicate on a fresh Hestia you need to install and activate that plugin. I believe you don’t even need to configure it, just have it installed and activated and it moves the sidebar down as shown in my screenshot above.

    What I’m not sure of is, whether the reason is due to a bug in the way in which Hestia inserts plugin code into the sidebar, or whether it’s the plugin itself that has the bug.

    If you’re able to replicate with this plugin installed, are you are to work out whether the bug is with Hestia’s template, or the plugin?

    Thanks,
    Phil.

    Hi @philbates35,

    From what I’ve tested with both that plugin or without it, I think the problem is related the content of the articles. There are some unclosed, or improperly closed HTML elements in the content from what I’ve seen, and I think it may be related to the plugin which seems to add some code at the end of the posts, something like <div class="sfsi_socialwpr">.
    And because these elements are not closed properly, the entire structure of the page is broken.
