blog post text alignment off after entering image via HTML

I use WP for my blog MommaWords.com. When I make a post and insert an image/link (pre-made from a company- for ex. Amazon) the text automatically goes to the bottom of the picture and the post looks silly with a huge blank space next to the photo. I usually insert photos via the visual tab and the insert image button but can’t use this setting for the html photo-links. When I switch to the html view, is there a way to insert the html and have it stay just to the left on the post and have the blog text to the right of the image?
