• I have had a wordpress site for a while now and I recently added a blog post to my website. I want to add more posts over time, so for the layout I set it to show just an excerpt with a ‘read more’ button for people to read the full blog (pretty standard).

The problem is when you click the read more button it just redirects you to the homepage rather than the full blog entry.

I’ve been trying to fix this for hours and I even created a new page altogether with the blog content thinking I could just set the read more button to link to the new page. But I can’t edit the permalink in the read more button.

I would really appreciate any help with this.

    P.S.
I am using a theme called Themify which I am not mad about but I am reluctant to change at this point because I am scared of messing up the whole site.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • The URL if your page is https://miraclegifts.ie/%category/3-gifts-she-will-love

It looks like there’s something wrong with your PERMALINK setting.

Kindly switch your permalink to one of the default options (ie don’t type anything in), save, and let’s see if that makes a difference.

I took a look and found the proper URL (without the ‘%category’) for the article via your RSS feed… the actual article looks fine but I think your permalinks are suffering from some problem where you have the permalinks customized…

Take a really good look at your Permalinks settings… make sure they are right and do a refresh (save) to try to flush any bad or mistyped settings out.

Dashboard –> Settings –> Permalinks and pay attention to anything like the

    /%category%/

    permalink ‘tags’.

Pay attention to your category base also if you changed that from default.

Let us know if you need more help.
