• Lately posts to my blog are not being displayed properly. It’s a simple matter of deleting blank lines between paragraphs. I’m having a devil of a time trying to have a blank line between paragraphs as a separator. This is a new problem and only started within the last few weeks.

The simplest example for me to show you is to ask you to go to my blog at https://www.brpcdoc.com/blog/. Today’s post, Startup List, should have blank lines after “exist” and “see”. I have them there and see them when I create or edit, but as soon as I publish they do not appear.

I know I have an old version, but doubt that is the problem. It has worked correctly and just fine since I first finally got it up and running.

    Thank you,

    Tom

True but pasting content in from Word is a problem.

Don’t paste content from Microsoft Word into WordPress as the pasted text will also contain Word’s own formatting. Sooner or later, this formatting will stop your pages from being displayed correctly (if at all) in Internet Explorer. If you cannot possibly manage without Word, paste your text into NotePad (or another text editor) first, then copy from NotePad into WordPress.

You now need to go back through your posts removing all of the Word formatting that you pasted in. Start with the post on August 3rd, 2009.

Thanks esmi. I am not sure why you think I am pasting stuff in from Word. I do not. In my last post, for example, I just typed in all that stuff and that’s the way it shows up – missing the blank lines between paragraphs that I had left there. This has always been fine and worked as expected until recently. There must be something I have done to cause this strange change.

There’s a block of typical Word style/formatting in the post I mentioned. If you switch to the HTML tab you’ll be able to see it. Or view the source of the relevant page. Among other things, it’s resetting the paragraph margins to something like 0.0001pt – which explains why you’re having problems with paragraph separation.
