The provided link is one that is the result of a search on sj.foodsci.info using the search string “top 40” in the search box on the front page of my blog.

The issue is that searches appear to insert the date into the URL when my actual URL has no date, so clicking on the link leads to a blank page with the error message “Oops! That page can’t be found.” Manually deleting the date from the URL in the Address bar of the browser fixes the problem, but this is still not acceptable.

Is there a way to get the search function to get to the correct URL?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

The link now works, but only because I have just changed the permalink to include the date. I didn’t want that; I just wanted the blog name followed by the title. But this seems to break the search function. I don’t see why it should. What else do I need to adjust for the search engine to cooperate with my choice of URL format?

    Hey there, @strider01

My recommendation would be to wait for up to 24 hours after changing the permalinks to plain text to allow Jetpack enough time to index your site. If the problem persists beyond that, please do not hesitate to inform me.

    Thank you!

I think now that things have settled, I will probably go with this for a while, and might not struggle with switching back until much later. Thanks for your offer of help!

Sounds like a plan! I’ll mark this forum thread as resolved, but please reach out to us anytime if we can help more in the future.
