    “main site will use the following URL pattern for posts: https://example.com/blog/[postformat]/
    At this time, you cannot remove the blog slug.”

    But it is possible to remove “blog” slug on page
    /wp-admin/network/site-settings.php?id=1
    “Permalink Structure” option.

    Everything works well.

    Will it cause problems in the future?

    Yes, you can change it. But if you go back to example.com/wp-admin and re-save the permalinks, it comes back.

    Like I said, so long as you never ever edit permalinks on the main blog, yes.

    Keep in mind, you also lose the protection of conflicting URLs. The reason for the blog slug is to limit the potential for your posts having the same name as a subsite.

    Unless you really have to do this, I wouldn’t bother. If its just that you think it’d look nicer, leave it alone. If its a business requirement, that’s another story.
