• When I had my blog at hooperschallenge.wordpress.com I would get constanst traffic from other wp blog users. Since I have switched to hosting off of wp to my own domain (hooperschallenge.com) I have had no traffic at all.

Is there a plug in or something I need to do for my blog to be viewed by other wp users?

  • No, there is no equivalent on self-hosted WP sites – as they are all totally unrelated to one another. WordPress.COM is actually one huge network of sites — whereas www.ads-software.com sites are completely independent and separate.

So if I continue to maintain both sites with duplicate contant will that hurt anything?

By managing two sites with the same intentions, I’d be more concerned with the time it takes to keep content up on both rather than duplicate content. If you’re not trying to manipulate searches, then you should be fine but you may be splitting your visitors into two different sites.

I’m guessing the reason why you switched over to .org is because there are features that you’d like to take advantage of. If that’s the case, I would continue down that path. If visitors are a concern, then you may need to perform SEO activities.

That being said, producing quality, unique content is the most important thing you can do for your SEO so if you’re doing that, then you’ve already taken big steps in that right direction.

I made the switch so I could promote products that I like via affiliates. So for SEO then do I need to “delete” my old blog so the duplicate content doesnt appear?

I was getting google traffic within a couple weeks with my .COM blog — is there an additional plugin that I need to assist with SEO on my .ORG blog?

There are many SEO plugins; some popular ones are All in one, Platinum, and Yoast. Keep in mind that typically you should not expect quality results within a few weeks.

If I were you, I’d simply create as much content as possible and once I think I’ve got enough content, I’d create some more content.
