• A few days back, we faced a strange issue on the wordpress blog. We have been using custom URL structure for our blog posts in order to keep them short and SEO friendly. For example, if the blog title is ‘How to set 301 redirection in the blog post”, so we set the blog post URL to be ‘https://www.domainname.com/301-redirection-blog.html ‘ ’

Now the strange thing is that the blog URL structure has suddenly changed to full-length URLs i.e. https://www.domainname.com/how-to-set-301-redirection-in-the-blog-post., irrespective of no changes made by us whatsoever.

What might be the reason for it?

  • Hi, @digamit.

This could be caused by a custom .htaccess modification you may have in place, or maybe a plugin that makes custom modifications to .htaccess file.

Try disabling all plugins to rule out a plugin conflict.

Extra Tip: make sure you backup your .htaccess file, just in case. As they say, better safe than sorry.
