Blog Vanished?

  • Apologies if this has already been raised but I can no longer seem to access my blog. I added an entry earlier today and someone was able to leave a comment (got it via email). When went to visit the blog later I got this message:

    My site is hosted by https://www.studentwebhosting.co.uk
    The rest of the site: https://www.beginsathome.com is working fine – just the blog is playing up
    I installed WordPress using Fantastico.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • You need to wait until your host tells you what it looks like from their side.
    If it’s routine maintenance, everything could pop back to normal quite easily. You need to wait for more info right now.

    Podz…
    sorry to keep bugging you but do you know how a database can just vanish? That is the bit that has me baffled. Unless someone messed with it I don’t understand how it could just disappear.
    As for your back up advice..mucho gracias!

    It can only vanish if the host pulls it – hence my saying to make lots of noise at them.

    Its back!!! I have backed up but could only save it as a zipped file…no idea why. At least its up and running. I can now continue with Christmas festivities.

    I had a similar issue with my first blog. It had been up two weeks, then suddenly it was gone. WordPress could not connect to the MySQL database. I used utility to access the database directly, and found someone else’s posts in there. After some research, I found that someone else had requested a MySql database using the same database name (wordpress), and username (wordpress), and their blog overwrote mine. So I had them set me up again, but this time I chose unique names.
