I keep getting emails telling me someone has commented on my blog, but it’s this damn verification thing from a .ro domain. I’m knew this this wordpress stuff so is this spam, or should I allow the comment?

I’ve allowed it a few times then deleted it because it’s just a number. But the emails are cooming thick and fast. What can I do to stop this?

  • Have you got Akismet? v1.15? Is it enabled?

It looks like spam, sent to trick people into allowing it on their site. You should never allow spam! It just encourages them.

Akismet is a plugin that will stop spam for you, highly recommended.

Cool. Thanks for the response people. I’ll install the plugin.

With that kind of comments all over the net, the spammer just needs to do a quick search to generate a list of blogs and their ip:s, that allow unmoderated comments. Then they can quickly spam them all, possibly with dangerous comments. An efficient way spread malware?
