Blog Was Fine Yesterday – Today Nothing; Blank White Page

I’ve had the same problem today. The site shows just fine in Firefox, but IE7 and Chrome just show blank white pages. My site is DailyGame.net. I ran an HTML validator and it kicked one error, but when I do a view->source in Firefox I don’t see the error at all. I’m totally stumped. Any ideas?

jmrallen Your site looks ok to me in IE7, 8, 9 and in Chrome. Maybe a cache problemo. BTW, it is usually better to start your own post instead of jumping in. Often when people see 2 posts they figure someone is all ready helping out and don’t open it.

shammah With ftp or by loggin in to your host account rename the plugins folder and the theme you are using. This will force wp to open with no plugins and with the twentyten theme.

Blank white pages are typically PHP errors. Do you have access to your server’s error logs?

Tim is correct. The most likely would be an extra space at the beginning or ending of a file. You can check wp-config.php for starts but an error code would be great help. What is the URL?

Actually, that wasn’t spam — at least not my post. Not sure about the other guy. My page was completely blank for about six or seven hours, and I couldn’t figure it out. I think it may have been a caching issue, as you suggest, because I did literally nothing and it came back. The odd part about the whole thing was that I did nothing to deliver the error either. Totally stumped. But, it’s back up now, so no harm no foul.

I will pay someone to retain you on a permanent basis, for when things like this go wrong – because writing is my penchant…and being down…and not being able to write makes me…strange and sad!

Am serious. Someone fixed it last time this happened, in a matter of minutes. YOu just have to know about php and all that kind of stuff…which I do NOT. Let me know and I’ll provide contact information to you.

And to the topic at hand. Blank page errors are, always, PHP errors.

Have you tried:

– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

– switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

@kmessinger: My main site opens, not the blog – are you telling me that The Power of Words opens for you? I have IE8 – and I would find it strange that my main site opens with no issues, but the blog does not because it is IE8.

Sorry. You are correct. The main page opens but the blog, https://www.shammahspace.ca/This/ does not.

Just rename the plugins folder. That takes care of all of them.
