• Hi
I just migrated from Blogger to WordPress (paid someone to do it). I find I can’t get the catagories into the sidebar.
Also I wanted to add the plugin for redirecting traffic from my old Blogger blog to WordPress and can’t find where it says Plugins on the Adventure Journal Dashboard.

  • Try adding the Category widget to your sidebar via Appearance -> Menus.

The Plugins menu is is just below Appearance in the main admin menu.

I feel like such an idiot.
How do I add a menu what the %&*$ do I do with menus?
Why does my sidebar show Archives and Meta tags when on my admin thingie/place where you choose widgets the archives and meta tags are not in the sidebar.
Under Appearance I have Users then Tools.

    See custom menus.

That sounds like the default content of your sidebar. Try adding an empty text widget to the sidebar and this default content should disappear.

Is this a wordpress.com site or a self-hosted WordPress install?

Brilliant! The empty text widget fixed it. Then I added Catagories and removed the text widget and the catagories stayed!
OK so just the plugins or if someone can tell me about redirecting from Blogger to WordPress.
