My blog has been self-hosted for a few months now and I continually run into a problem where I cannot comment on Blogger.com blogs (using OpenID) and Blogger blog owners cannot leave comments on my blog.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Is it a problem with the theme, my settings, or a common issue between the two blogging services? Every week I enter a blogging challenge and have grown tired of the “I can’t post to your blog” comments. Makes me want to tell them to switch to WordPress! Lol.

    My blog is here:

Yep. I used to require that people use an email address also, but when this issue started happening, I unchecked it but still no luck.

    Email addresses are always required.

Well, there’s a check box that says “Comment author must fill out name and e-mail ” so I thought that meant it wasn’t mandatory. Doesn’t seem to have anything to do with my issue though.

Providing “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” is unchecked in Settings -> Media, there should not be any problem. There’s no “conflict” between WordPress & Blogger as they are two completely independent systems.

Thanks. I’ll leave the question open to see if anyone else has input. A Google search showed that others have run into this problem but I couldn’t find a result w/a solution yet.

Maybe it’s an Open ID issue. I logged out of WP and tried to leave a comment on my blog but it took me to myopenid.com when I tried to post the comment.

Are you using any OpenID comment plugins?

I am! I think we’re on to something. When I tried posting (once I remembered my OpenID password, I then got the follow error message: No input file specified.”

Maybe I installed it incorrectly? I recalled having a tough time with it. Do I even really need OpenID?

No – you don’t need OpenID. All you need to do is enter an name & email address.

Oh thank goodness. I’m going to uninstall everything right now. I’ll keep this open until I can post to my blog as a visitor successfully. Thanks!

I deleted the plugin and it worked! Thank you for your help!

No problem. Glad to hear that you managed to get it sorted. ??

Which plugin were you using, btw? It might help someone else with a similar problem.

I think it was the one titled “OpenID”. I had another installed as well but it wasn’t activated.
