On my fairly basic website, I have a home page with a top menu that just has Home | Books | Talks | Courses | Articles. The last one, Articles, is just a set of blog posts that I’ve made – I don’t want blog posts showing on my main pages.

Mostly, this works fine – if I go to, for example, my “Books” page it just shows the text I’ve put in for Books, and nothing else. However, on the “Courses” page, it also shows a “List of articles” box on the right. How can I remove this? As far as I can see, this page: https://almuten.co.uk/index.php/courses/ is set up exactly the same as this page: https://almuten.co.uk/index.php/books/ but the “courses” one shows a list of articles (which I don’t want displayed), and the “books” one doesn’t. I have a separate page for articles at https://almuten.co.uk/index.php/articles/ which is fine, and does exactly what I want. I just want to be able to remove the “List of articles” on the Course page.

    Any ideas gratefully received!

    Thanks, Chris.

  • Your issue is easily explained:

You’re using two different page templates (provided by your theme) for the BOOKS and COURSES pages: the “BOOKS” page uses a full-width (ie 1-column) template, whereas the “COURSES” page uses the theme’s default template which is a 2-column layout (page content on the left and a right sidebar with widgets on the right).

So simply set the “COURSES” page to use a full-width page template. You can do this from the post editor, in the right column.

@gappiah Thank you so much for explaining this so clearly, George – that certainly fixed the problem! I really appreciate your help and clear instructions.

    Chris.
