• I’m not quite sure what happened here, but my blog admin screen re-directed to the install.php screen. It had been sitting there for several hours.

    So… i started up safari…
viewing the blog is fine (thankfully)
but, as soon as I tried to go to the login screen, it redirected to install.php

    I’m currently running at 2.7.1
Has been running smoothly for a few weeks at this level.
Does this sound like an attempted hack or exploit?
    Any advice greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Anthony

I moved to another machine, from which I was able to login. Revisiting the original machine, it now prompted for login on safari… and took me right to dashboard in firefox… as it should have.
Things are still not right though.
I created a post and tried to save it as a draft and got the following error:

You attempted to edit a post that doesn’t exist. Perhaps it was deleted?

    Any ideas?

sounds like your wp_options table is having problems in the database
run a repair on it with phpmyadmin

I typically use a wordpress plugin for db admin and backups, etc.
I have an old install of phpmyadmin… but it doesn’t appear to be able to do any more than login to the db… but displays a blank page.

Same thing happened to me last night!
The site was fine then, and I didn’t even do any updates or anything.
And this morning I’m directed to the admin installation page.

I’m gonna try another machine, but I’d like to hear if you’ve solved your problem AnthonyArrigo (and how).

    best of luck.

i did get another version of phpMyAdmin installed.
It revealed that wp-options and about 5 other tables were in some sort of inconsistent state. I was able to repair each.
Things seemed better for a few moments… but I could not create new posts… and now I can’t login. I’m expecting my provider will end up rebooting the mysql server… since it’s quite flaky now (can’t get into phpMyAdmin anymore).
Blog is now down completely :-\

Tried to run a repair, based on what you’ve done and I’m still locked out.
Blog is down completely, and I can’t find my backup (yikes).
Hope you have more luck than I am.

    Hi guys!

Same thing happened to me earlier today – I can’t log in and I’m always redirected to install.php

How did you guys solve this? ??
