Trying to install Broken Link Checker plugin on a managed WordPress site hosted by Bluehost. I keep getting an email message from Bluehost stating “We have detected an installation of the plugin broken-link-checker which is not currently supported for use on our Optimized WordPress platform. In order to maintain optimized performance, the plugin broken-link-checker has been automatically removed.”

Bluehost tech support claims that WordPress is the one automatically uninstalling the plugin and to contact the developer.

    Hi @jwsimek

Sorry to hear you are having this problem.

    Well, the email says:

    on our Optimized WordPress platform.

So I’m afraid this is on Bluehost side, the WordPress itself doesn’t remove any plugin.

We are also working on Broken Link Checker 2.0 which will have some performance fixed.

I only remember this plugin not being allowed at the WP Engine:
    https://wpengine.com/support/disallowed-plugins/

Had this website hosted on WP Engine before?

Yup. That’s what I told them too. We were on WebSynthesis (running Broken Link Checker) prior to being purchased by WP Engine, which bans the plugin. We moved from WP Engine specifically to be able to install the Broken Link Checker plugin. I had tech support on the line monitoring the server while the plugin was running. No performance issues at all and then all of a sudden it gets automatically uninstalled. First level tech support had no clue as to why and there are no errors in the logs. They refused to escalate to level 2 support saying to contact the developer. My position is that it must be Bluehost’s monitoring system that is doing the uninstall. Rather than try to educate the personnel at Bluehost, I’m going to pull the plug and find another managed WordPress hosting service.

    Thanks for the feedback.
