• Hey Guys,

I have posted about this in a few different ways with no final resolution.

I have recently purchased a domain and a hosting package from BlueHost (due to the recommendation on this website), and I am unable to run WP 100% on their servers. Everything installs and appears to be working fine, however, when I log into my WP admin, there is no dashboard.

This seems like a small enough problem, however I am not satisfied – something is obviously not right there and I am not content on having my blog live that way :).

What I would like, from all you wonderful human beings, is if you have used BlueHost, and have had the same problem, to please reply to this with your domain name (currently hosted with BH) or a domain name that you used to have hosted with them.

I have been in contact with BlueHost who are willing to try to rectify this matter if they have more data… Your help would be greatly appreciated, as I really don’t want to go through the hassle of trying to find another host.

    Thanking you in advance.

  • Still doesn’t work for me. Who did you contact? Do you have an email/number?

    Thanks,
    Alex

I just submitted a ticket. I’ll let you know what they do for me.

BlueHost just fixed the problem for me as well. You’ve gotta love their level of support it is great!

    Alex

What is it that they’re fixing that only works for people individually? Or is it related to which Box you are on? My site is based on box4.bluehost.com..

    Regards

Not sure. My box is on box11 so it may be per box.

    Good luck,
    Alex

I’ve just upgrading to 1.5.1.2 and have the same problem with a blank dashboard – I’m with Dreamhosts.

I quite like it though, I think I will just customize it to let me get at the other areas of the site rather than show a load of distracting links… after all the only reason I ever log in is to edit my site, so why be bombarded with a load of extrnal links!!??

I have the problem too, but I’m with b-one. But I think my missing dashboard is my own fault. It was working fine until a couple of days ago. It’s probably because I did something wrong when I edited some files in the theme editor. I have two blogs on my domain, and the dashboard on the other one is ok. Strange, but it doesn’t bother me too much.

i’m very happy with bluehost. do not use powweb or fatcow for blogs.

Just joined BlueHost. So far excellent.

My one issue is with my Write Post page.

There are no Quick Tags so I cannot format nor add images.

Do I need a plug-in to get that?

It seems to be standard on every other version of WordPress I have seen.

    Appreciate the advice!

Ive had no problems with bluehost so far, other than the contact form email having to originate from the host domain, but thats fine with me.

    RickMcCharles,
did you use the fantisco install or did you do it “yourself”?

    You should contact bluehost.

If you used Fantastico you should install it manually first (afther you deleted every wordpress file incl. database).

If you installed it manually try to use fantatico OR download a new copy of wordpress and try it again, perhaps some file is corrupt.

    I second ic3y’s recommendation…

“You will need to troubleshoot your config file to correct this issue”
    ===============================
According to the server error logs, this is what is causing the problem:

    /home/idconten/public_html/kinoproba/error_log:

[22-May-2006 06:49:48] PHP Warning: main(/home/idconten/public_html/kinoproba/wp-settings.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/idconten/public_html/kinoproba/wp-config.php on line 20

There appears to be an issue with line 20 in your config file where there is a file path that is invalid. You will need to troubleshoot your config file to correct this issue
