I want to create a custom theme for my site.

I used BlueHost one-click install – easy, great, see the site- but …

I also downloaded WP to my desktop, edited the wp-config.php created a MySQL database with usernames and all that jazz, so I could connect via FireZilla…

When I connect via FireZilla – to ultimately upload my custom files – I don’t see the WP files (like the files I downloaded to my desktop.)

Is the One-Click Install and the desktop install redundant?

Would it be best to uninstall the one-click wordpress via BlueHost and start fresh with a manual install?

  • They should be the same. You may try the manual install by uploading the files and importing the database in cPanel > phpMyAdmin. Or you may simply be in a different folder and need to navigate to the folder where you installed WordPress.

You are right, I was in a different folder. (I think I am getting “how to” info from too many sources …..)

Put in the ‘default FTP’ info from BlueHost -instead of the FTP account I made- and plugged in the IP address and wammmmo – I see my files!

    Thanks for your quick response.
