• I have a subdomain set up as info.example.com, that subdomain points to info.example2.com. The subdomain opens the correct page but what I want it to do is keep the name info.example.com as the url instead of switching to info.example2.com.

I have blue host and they don’t have a masking option like go daddy does. Blue host told me to rewrite the htaccess file, which I tried and my site crashed because I have no idea what i am doing in that file. I do not write code. All I would like to happen is my redirect to open and the name stay the same.

Can anyone help? I have seen many examples in support and other forum users but I don’t understand most of the coding and would appreciate help in knowing exactly what my htaccess file should say to accomplish what i need.

    Thank you!!

You want users to see the URL info.example.com but actually visit info.example2.com and get content from there? Do you want info.example2.com to go away?

Yes I want info.example2.com to go away. Right now info.example.com shows and loads the page from info.example2.com. Which is what we want but then we want example2.com to go away and info.example.com to stay.
Go daddy does it with an easy masking option. Bluehost (my host company) does not. WordPress also doesn’t have anything easy and from what I have gathered have actually put in blocks to stop it from happening. However, the tech support at info.example2.com said that bluehost has written code for other clients to accomplish what I am asking. I asked bluehost and they gave me a rewrite htaccess code but I tried it and my site crashed. They won’t help any further than that.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

If info.example2.com is going away, why not consider changing the DNS entry for info.example.com to point to info.example2.com‘s IP address?

That way on info.example2.com you just have to update the Site URL and WordPress Address with info.example.com (less the 2) before the DNS change goes into effect.

Edit: See https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_The_Site_URL for what I mean.

It seems my reply did not post yesterday. Sorry I misunderstood. No info.example2.com is not going away. Both sites are permanent. What we are trying to do is we have an affiliate page with a follow up program for our company. We are allowed to run it through our domain but both the host (blue host) and wordpress are making it very difficult as we can’t easily mask the url so that it always says info.example.com even after the information from info.example2.com has populated.

I was given the code rewrite as I said before and either I put it in the wrong spot or the code really does not do what I want it to do. Either way I don’t know enough about coding as when I tried to use it my site crashed.

    Again thanks for the help!
