Hi,

I’ve been evaluating Buffer for a bit now, and it’s been working great for Facebook and Threads now, though Bluesky still has an issue with initially parsing the link preview/attachment (using OpenGraph option) that comes from a WordPress post. So the actual Bluesky post (see them, here: @gamingage.bsky.social on Bluesky ) just has the link and not the card, UNLESS, I pop open the Buffer editor for that item before it posts, which immediately then parses/fixes that link.

See the before/after screenshots below.

Before hitting edit, you can see the Bluesky preview doesn’t fetch the OpenGraph preview card.

After just touching the item with the editor, you can see the Bluesky preview shows the card properly, and then it posts correctly.

I’ve been through the documentation/help articles thoroughly and can’t find an option which applies for Bluesky that would change the behavior.

OpenGraph option works correctly without the need to edit in Buffer:

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, but with Bluesky specifically, the OpenGraph link preview does not appear to pull through properly on its own without “touching” it in the editor. OpenGraph is set up fine and works great for other platforms and we went through all the debugging steps (no way to export the plugin config).

Here’s a video screen capture of the WordPress to Buffer to Bluesky process that we’re seeing as well as the log. All Buffer posts are scheduled in the future so it’s not a “Post Immediately” cache issue. https://youtu.be/ENblFkxIKxg

Noted, however not replicating per previous video, observing no “touching” or “fix[ing]” of statuses in Buffer, with OpenGraph data being honored:

Feel free to work through the debugging documentation provided, and work with Buffer, who will be able to provide further insights as to why your specific site requires you to edit statuses in Buffer for correct working functionality.
