I am about to purchase the Restropress print extension using google cloud for now (until it is discontinued) – but my clients want to use a bluetooth thermal printer to print the order to the kitchen. Will the bluetooth printer pop up as an option to print to on the settings? Or does it need to be hardwired to a network? Will the Order tracking API app also work to print to bluetooth? Need to know these answer before we buy thank u.

    Hello @katiestropicalkitchen,

A Bluetooth thermal printer would work fine.

If you have any further queries related to any premium extension then you can get in touch using the live chat on our website.

I asked the support team as well and they told me 6 days ago that bluetooth will not work.

Google cloud print requires a printer that is connected to WiFi. Which i haven’t found in the thermal printer category. just Bluetooth. which is not the same thing.

The support team later pointed me to Epsom printers with google cloud print capabilities. But there are none listed on web that way. They’re all listed as bluetooth no wifi. I am very confused and don’t want to pay $400 for printer that isn’t proven to work. help!?

@katiestropicalkitchen Any luck with the printer? I need to advise my client which one to get and don’t see a definitive answer whether BT or WIFI printer will work

We ordered the Epsom Onmilink tm-t88VI – under the guidance from the company that “any epson printer should work” but also to get the one with the most features/capabilities since google cloud print is dissolving and they’re working on some other solution. I am trying to set up the Epson printer today – hoping it will work with regular ethernet but Im not not holding my breath – otherwise its ~$125 or so to order a Wireless adapter for it. And another $20 to order a Beacon adapter for bluetooth. Still no clue if I can get any of them to work. Write me back and I’ll let you know how it goes.

Nothing has worked. “Support” has not given me any real support only contradicted themselves in various tickets and chats. The order tracking API doesn’t recognize the printer. The printer won’t pair with google cloud print. I’ve had internet technicians try to troubleshoot. The software doesn’t recognize this “recommended” printer. I’m feeling like I was scammed and would like a real solution or my money back. @redlik @sagarseth9

    Hello All,

We have sorted this issue with a new desktop app for automatic printing. It works with all printers and also allows you to review all orders and update them inside the app.

Please reach out to our support team and they will provide you the app for both Mac and Windows.

Aloha apologies to leave this public review but your team has not refunded us for the useless printing extensions. BEWARE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I have been trying to get this print extension to work for 3 months with conflicting answers from the “support” team. first “any bluetooth will work”, then “any Epson” , but really they advertised with “any thermal printer”. Well nothing works! I bought a top of the line printer and waited for months for their support to help me as they threw me around to different ppl and asked me repeatedly for silly “ticket” information.

Then finally emailed me the desktop app. which is not useful in a kitchen environment in the first place. The desktop app actually printed (the first time any of it worked in 3 months) BUT the print was horrible. It was off center, had random “undefined” fields” was not concise for a kitchen printer, and had no way to edit what fields were displayed.

MOREOVER, the print outs would randomly spit out a value for TAX that was different than the one displayed digitally for restaurant and customer. And also randomly add excess digits to the prices. So somehow info going from computer to printer was manipulated. Who knows what else could screw up! And of course the iPhone app they promised would be updated would not print thermal printers. Just your desktop printer. And the APP would just randomly freeze and go black. How is any of this functional for a restaurant?

I could go on and on about the issues. And I will if I don’t receive a refund for all the money I spent on your useless extensions. pcsc.katie at gmail.com papaaloacountrystore at gmail.com if you want to make any of this right.

Of if any other people want me to warn about how this is a complete waste of time and money. I have never left a bad review of anything in my entire life but this experience has been horrible and has made me DREAD going to work on this project.

Get your act together and refund us.

@katiestropicalkitchen Hello! Were you able to solve the problem? in case you couldn’t, do you know the Gloria Food system? It is free, it recognizes Epson printers with an ethernet connection and it is extremely practical. I use it. Any questions I can help you with the installation and others. Cheers

I am realizing that all companies have their own sets of issues. Thankfully, Restropress worked with me to refund all of our extension purchases. I am not sure how far they have got on resolving issues with the printers but I know they were working on it, I just couldn’t wait any longer for solutions.

I wish restropress the best. The Restropress backend on WordPress worked great, the ability to customize it to have the look and feel of your website was great. And it was a seemingly cost effective solution for people who have a wordpress site already and just need to enable online ordering without using Woocommerce to do so. If I could edit or delete my previous comments I would so that the public knows they did work with me to refund and are trying their best to work out their kinks.

Thanks Restropress for working with me to refund. Best of luck @sagarseth9

    Hello @katiestropicalkitchen,

We have already built the solution for Bluetooth printers using the Mobile APPS. We are just doing some tests with some most commonly used printers so that we can finalize this.

We are going to launch the new version of the mobile APP very soon.

    Regards
    Nirmal
