    Hey.
    Faced such a problem. I’m doing an online store, when adding a photo to a category, the photo seems to lose quality.
    At the same time, if I add the same photo, but on the product, then the quality does not deteriorate.
    I tried to add code to the function.php, also created thumbnails using the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin
    I hope for your help, the third day I can not solve this problem

    Please go to WooCommerce settings and set sizes of your images there.
    Customizing ? WooCommerce ? Product Images ? Thumbnail width

    It all depends on your columns number for shop. For example in the Woor Design we have such settings:
    Customizing ? WooCommerce ? Product Images:
    Main image width: 800
    Thumbnail width: 500
    Thumbnail cropping: 1:1
