• Hi… again with yet another v3 issue.

If a post has a featured image it looks fine on the post page. However if you look at the page here: https://webox.stillpointsolutions.co.uk

You can see the same image is blurry – it wasn’t like this before so can you please tell me how to fix it?

    Thanks

  • Hi @futurepacer,

    Thanks for reaching us,

I suspect one of the plugins you’re using might be causing the problem, so please try deactivating all?the plugins one by one and check if the problem resolves.

Let me know if this helps you or not and I will get back to you.

Hi Barsha – I deactivated all of them but the problem remains. Everything was fine until the upgrade so it must be something to do with that I think.

    Hi @futurepacer,

Can you please try once adding some high resolution images and check if it fixes the issue or not!

If the issue is not fixed, kindly contact us via the live chat support here: https://www.themegrill.com/. You can mention this conversation while doing so.

It’s not exactly ColorMag’s problem. It’s what wordpress do, if your images are not the size the theme use. Or not proportional (i.e. if image should be KxM and you use 2Kx2M, it still will be good, if it is 0.5Kx0.5M obviously, it will be blurred, if it is 1.5Kx2M, wordpress will crop it and then reduce megabyte’s size, so it will be blurred).

In your situation, that is still not corrected, you chose the option “medium size” for image, that is already cropped and shrunk by all those mechanics. If you make the image up to your liking (smaller, obvious) and then choose image full size, then everything will be OK. Or, you could choose full size and then in the code write the dimensions you want in the post. Visually it will be the same but the page will load slower because you’ll have bigger image.

Recommended sizes, if anybody else needs: https://docs.themegrill.com/colormag/docs/recommended-image-sizes/

    Hi @3nt ,

Thanks for the useful suggestion and advice. Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.

Hi – after a lot of investigation I discovered that the person, not me obviously, who had first designed the site used TG: Featured Posts (Style 2) on Front Page: Content Top Section to display latest news items. The very latest item always has a featured image and it is this image that gets blurred, and I think I know why.

If you look at the screenshot: https://capture.dropbox.com/OV5PNKXF30cmTRhN

You’ll see the image width is 390 x 205px however the container it is in is 777 x 408px so I’m guessing the image is being stretched to fit.

If this is true is there a way I can change anything to make sure the selected image is at least 777px wide?

    Looking forward to your response

    John

    Hi @futurepacer,

    Sorry for the delayed response,

For now, we donot have the option to display the image inside 777px wide. I have already discussed the issue with the developer team and then working on it. Hopefully, the issue will be resolved soon, and the update will be released.

Hi Barsha – thanks for your response. It’s a mystery why your devs would create a layout using a 777px item and only allow the use of 390px images – ah well, the long wait continues but I have to tell you I am actively looking for a different theme because the problems in ColorMag are a real issue for me. I was considering getting the pro version but no longer, and that’s sad because otherwise it’s a great theme.

    Very best
    John
