    Hi,

    Since the last plugin update I’m getting a trickle of bogus registrations on my membership site. Since it’s a paid-for site, this is a real issue.

    I know the update knocked out all of the protected pages and I had to go through and re-protect them… but I can’t see any other issues that would allow people to register without paying.

    Can you help me find the problem?

    Hey there Pedalkraft,

    Hope you’re well today ??

    Unfortunately as the plugin was completely rewritten all protection rules have to be re made.

    I’ve tried registering for your membership and I’m getting redirected to paypal for payments https://screencast.com/t/9QW9HY4ByF.

    Did you manage to fix this or am I missing something?

    Thanks for your reply Bojan.
    It was causing an immediate problem to people who were using/trying to buy the course in real time, plus I was getting the bogus signups. After trying for hours to reset the protection rules as I had originally got them, whilst emailing customers to apologise, I gave up and restored an old backup of the site with an outdated version of Membership. The plugin will have to stay out of date – I can’t be rebuilding my site each time it’s updated!

    Fair enough ??

    Just want to point out that this will not be the case for future updates. While old version of membership is a good plugin we’ve decided to create a new improved version and for this we couldn’t use the old code base so the plugin had to be completely rewritten.

    The new version uses different protection logic and shortcodes so protection rules have to be setup again. I pretty sure that we’re not going to have such a major update in a long time.

    Thanks Bojan, that’s really good to know.
    If it’s not going to be a regular issue, I’ll set aside some time this month to let customers know the site will be offline, and run the update then, when I can dedicate my attention to resetting all the protection rules.
