    Hi,

Recently I found a very strange issue. Your plugin reports 0 broken links. So I think everything is fine. However, today when I click one of the links in https://www.datanumen.com/outlook-repair/, I get 404 not found error. I think that is very strange. I fix the link manually. Then try to use “Forced Recheck” to recheck the whole site again. But still find 0 broken links.

It is likely that the broken link I found manually is just the only broken link in our website. But it is also likely that there are more but your plugin does not detect. When will your plugin miss broken links?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello @chcw,

this page loads fine for me. Maybe it was a temporary issue? (url I’ve tested https://www.datanumen.com/outlook-repair/)

    Kind regards,
    Ivan

    Hi @chcw,

It’s odd if the URL was broken and not listed in the plugin side. It should have worked without any issue. Since you have already fixed the 404 issues in the mentioned page, it’s tough to say what might have caused such behaviour. Seems like it’s a custom post type page?

In general, the plugin will only check for broken links for the post types checked in the plugin settings under Settings > Link Checker > Look for Links in, and also will only check for HTML links, HTML images which are configured under Settings > Link Checker > Which Links to Check.

So could you please double-check in the above-mentioned settings to ensure if there is any specific checkbox disabled regarding that might have caused the link to be omitted?

Then try to use “Forced Recheck” to recheck the whole site again. But still find 0 broken links.

Could you please try manually creating a broken 404 link and test it out and see whether it gets picked? This would help in ruling out if there is an issue that needs to be looked upon or not.

Please do let us know how that goes so that we could check further if needed. Have a great day ahead.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

    Thank you for your reply.

I have tried to add an invalid link to https://www.datanumen.com/outlook-repair/, when you visit the URL, click “Features” tab in the middle, and then scroll down to the bottom of the feature list. The last feature is “Support to repair a corrupt PST file via command line parameters.”, I have added an invalid link to the word “parameters”, which points to an unexisting page https://www.datanumen.com/outlook-repair-command-line-parameters/

I then start “Link Checker” but it cannot detect the broken link. I have confirmed that in the “Settings”, I have selected “Products”, which is the custom type for the page https://www.datanumen.com/outlook-repair/. I also confirm that I have selected both “HTML Links” and “HTML Images” in “Which Links to Check”.

    Thanks

    Hi @chcw

First of all, sorry for the delay here.

I can see the 404 link on your website.

I tested the link on my website but it found correcly.

    https://monosnap.com/file/1wb8qaRiOgpNnGZOnKIQuvJgfi5Bvw

However, I was able to replicate a possible bug when using Tabs, could you please try to add the same link on the page content but outside any tab which will be visible then re-check the links?

It seems that when the tab is hidden the plugin is not getting the 404 link,

Kindly let us know if this make any difference and we will take a closer look.

    Best Regards

Thank you very much. I try to add an unexisting hyperlink to “is” in the statement “DataNumen Outlook Repair is formerly called Advanced Outlook Repair.” in the page https://www.datanumen.com/outlook-repair/, then your plugin will detect the broken link immediately.

    Hi @chcw

    Thank you for the update.

Does it mean that it worked for you when adding this new content?

If so, in this case, we can confirm the bug here.

The plugin isn’t getting the links on the hidden tab, and w are going to report this situation to our developers, and hope we can implement a fix.

    Best Regards

Yes, your plugin works for the new content, but not for the hidden tabs.

Looking forward to get the new release with this issue fixed. Thank you very much for the great plugin.
