booking email not working,

So weird we are doing some free bookings for a workshop, when the service is selected the number of available slots decreases, the form says the booking has been made, but no email arrives anywhere either admin or client and there is no record of the details of the booking anywhere.
So for example an event had 600 slots, not is 592, but we cannot find the bookings anywhere or received any emails
Any idea why this is happening ?
