Booking not showing Pending by default

A test booking shows up immediately as Booked on the calendar. It should be Pending until we Accept it in the Booking list. How do I flip this around? Documentation says Pending should be set by default but it’s not.

It’s also not showing a cross-over on the first and last day for showing check-in and check-out days. I can’t see where to activate this. Thoughts?
