I have a problem when I try to access my booking page for a recurring event. Sometimes I get an error indicating that the page could not be found.

I actually have 2 sites. One on the server and on on my development system. Both systems have exhibitted this behavior. Well, actually, after reinstalling EM on the server the problem was resolved. But even reinstalling did not fix my development box. In both cases, I “deactivated” first, because I have a feeling that the problem is in the database.

I have one idea about the cause of this problem: is it possible that fiddling with the settings while creating the events could cause the DB to get wacky? For example if I create and save an event, then change some setting, then go back and edit the event, could this cause some inconstancy?

I think this would be very time consuming to test, so if it is happening, it would be difficult to catch.

    hi,

since it’s working fine on your server; maybe you can try to reset EM in your dev. site under events > settings > general > admin tools or try to use shortcode [my_bookings]

I think my terminology must be off. Let me explain it a different way.

After seeing this problem a couple times, I uninstalled and reinstalled events manager. When I set all the setting just they way they need to be (exactly the same as the server). Other plugins on the site are reduced to a minimum. I created one recurring event. after updating the event I click on the “visit post” link and I find myself on a page titled “This link appears to be broken”. The url is: “https://localhost/?event=beginning-one-2014-03-24&event-recurring=beginning-one”. When I put the shortcode [events_list recurring=’1′] on my home page click on the event, I get the same result.

Do your localhost and live server have the same OS?

Can you explain more about what you mean by “is it possible that fiddling with the settings while creating the events could cause the DB to get wacky?”. Were you changing settings via the admin panel, or directly in the database?

    Thanks.

Admin panel. My thought was that if I create an event. Then change the setting … like add and attribute, then go update that event, is there any possibility that the code might get confused. However, my most recent process (described above) eliminates that concern, because I started with a fresh install.

Hopefully the code never gets confused ??

Is there any difference between the localhost and live server? Do they have different operating systems, for example?

Yes .. I am running XAMPP on win 7 locally. The server runs linux.

How might this effect the behavior?

If reinstalling fixed the issue on the live server it may have been a permissions issue that wasn’t resolved by doing the same locally.

Reinstall again locally, but do so manually by deleting EM before downloading it again.

Also, how exactly have you set up your local XAMPP environment?

    Thanks

Not sure which details about my XAMPP setup are relevant. I just using the standard setup that supports just one site.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, I have purged the database, deactivated all other plugins and I still get no link found.

I checked the DB and the event table looks about the same on both server and local system.

Any other suggestion before I rebuild the DB and plugin folder.

did you mean 404 on your single event page?

    Thread Starter mirgcire

    (@mirgcire)

Yes 404 error. Thanks for helping me clarify.

Can you test using the Post name permalink structure on the localhost version?

    Please forgive my ignorance.

I have no idea what you mean by “using the Post name permalink structure”.
