    Hi Joerg,

    thanks for asking.

I have a copy of 2.x but not looked at it. I don’t think that anything changed. My goal is actually to have a more native integration with Borlabs Cookie than we have right now, but doing the research and tests takes some time.

I also believe that it should not have been changed because if they changed the cookie structure then suddenly, all confirmations from uses would be invalid. Do you have a reason to think that there could be a problem?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hey Thomas,

    thanks for the quick reply.

I know that all shortcuts have been removed and that there is a new set to be used. So I would not wonder if also the Cookie name etc. had been changed and would require something different, than listed on your page.

I realized for example that ads (although all cookies are accepted) will not be displayed.

I do have some blog articles that are book reviews and at the end there should be an amazon affiliate link to the book, these ads are not shown at all (any longer).

I did not realized that when I upgraded to Borlabs Cookies 2.x so it might be the case that the ads do not show for any other reason, rather than due to my update (which is several weeks ago now).

I just came across the behaviour today where I suggested a book and referred to my blog article and the user asked if I’m an affiliate and the link/ad was not shown….

    Any idea?

    Cheers
    Joerg

Here is a page where I added an ad to the bottom of the article:
    https://www.sensorgrafie.de/rezensionen/der-start-in-die-landschaftsfotografie-von-david-koester/
However the ad is not displayed. I used the Gutenbergs Advanced Ad block to place the ad.

    Hi Joerg,

    thanks for your patience,

I was able to read the docs for Borlabs Cookies and set up a test environment. I found a lot of outdated information based on version 1, so it might be possible that more was changed.

They have a detailed guide about the change on https://borlabs.io/kb/upgrade-borlabs-cookie-1-x-to-2-x/.

The biggest change seems to be the use of the shortcodes, which were replaced anymore. Please take a look at whether you used them and if so, replace them.

I would then be curious about which cookie groups and cookies you set up for the ads because I am thinking about how to best support this within Advanced Ads.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hello Thomas,

so far I had made changes to my setup and replaced all shortcodes I required.

I kept the standard cookie groups. So I think the Marketing group is the one where I would place Advanced Ads to.

But I’m already lost what I need to place at all the different fields of the Cookie for Advanced Ads (if I’m right here at all). Or do I have to make other settings?

    Cheers
    Joerg

    Hi Joerg,

    thanks for your feedback.

I am indeed currently trying to work out how to better integrate and maybe understand the cookie.

I have one not-that-perfect solution that should work on most websites. If you dare to test it then please send me a direct email through customer support.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

The old approach of checking for “,all” in the borlabs cookie doesn’t work anymore. Is there a new solution?

    Hi @flizzywp,

yes, Borlabs Cookies changed the cookie structure. We are working together on a better integration and I will update the manual soon. For now, please use borlabs-cookie as the cookie name and either the ID of a cookie group like marketing or a specific cookie like google-adsense in the appropriate field of the Privacy module in Advanced Ads.

If you are running into issues with that then please open a new thread here.

    Thanks,
    Thomas
