    Hello,

We’ve used this plugin for a while now and then suddenly the Paypal disconnected and I wasn’t able to reconnect it. I contacted PayPal and they said the only way to make it work was to upgrade to a PayPal Pro account which costs $30/month. This is for a non-profit and wondering if there is another way.

Stripe also stopped working. When someone tries to process a payment, it just spins and spins and spins. The backend says “Payment pending”. The stripe webhook is set up correctly and verified by Stripe support. They redirected me back to the GiveWP plugin as the reason the payment gets stuck.

Any idea on how I can resolve this issue? Huge inconvenience and has cost us donations!

    Hey @surrealsanguine,

It looks like you are talking about the PayPal Pro add-on, right? We are not allowed to discuss the premium add-ons here in the free support forum, but we are happy to receive a message from you via Priority Support.

Thanks for using GiveWP! Have a great day.

    @matheusfd

Incorrect. I’m talking about the free version no longer being able to connect with PayPal at all. Or stripe. Neither of them will process payments.

Is this a paid plugin only now???

So I should just use another plugin option? PayPal and Stripe won’t work on the free account anymore?

    Hi @surrealsanguine,

Paypal and Stripe both work in the free version. We have not had any other reports about this. Paypal Standard and Paypal Donations do require a free business account but not a paid account.

That said, this sounds like an issue specific to your site.
We had some reports of connectivity issues for Stripe when the site runs on PHP 8.

Check for any missing database tables. To do that go to Donations -> Tools -> System Info. Scroll down until you see the GiveWP Configuration section and let us know if any of the database tables listed there has a red X next to it.

Next, check the server error logs for any recent Fatal errors.

Last but not least, try to replicate the issue with a minimal setup: Twenty Twenty theme and only GiveWP active. This way you can rule out plugin/theme conflicts.

    Keep us posted.

It won’t allow me to reconnect the PayPal account. I go through the steps and click the connect button, login (we do have a free Business account set up and it was working in February) and when I come back to the GiveWP dashboard it’s still prompting me to connect to PayPal.

Stripe says it’s connected. Seems to work. But when someone tries to donate, it just gives a continuous spinning wheel on the front end and the back end simply says payment pending until it eventually times out and goes to abandoned. the webhook on the Stripe side shows that some information is received but nothing is processed.

We’ve used this plugin for almost 2 years and we only realized it stopped working in the last month. I’ve already spoken to PayPal support, Stripe support, and have tried deactivating plugins systematically and no luck.

Checking the database table list, wp_give_revenue has a red X next to it.

    How do I resolve?

    (@mrdaro)

This is probably the cause of the problem.

    The fix is really simple.

    1. First, backup your site and be sure you are comfortable recovering from that backup just in case.

    2. Enable Advanced Database Updates in Donations -> Settings -> Advanced:

    3. Next, they can run the update in Donations -> Tools -> Data, find create_revenue_table and click the Re-run Update button.

    4. Last, go back to in Donations -> Settings -> Advanced and disable Advanced Database Updates.

Then do a test donation and let me know if the issue persists.

Regarding the Paypal connection, there’s a wide variety of reasons why you might struggle to get PayPal Donations connected correctly. Some of those reasons we can solve and some are things that PayPal needs to solve, but I’m here to help you as completely as I possibly can.

The first thing you should do is confirm that you do not have GiveWP in “Test Mode.” If GiveWP is in test mode, it will attempt to connect PayPal Donations to the PayPal sandbox instead of your live PayPal account. In live mode, GiveWP connects to your live PayPal account. You can disable test mode by going to Donations > Settings > Payment Gateways.

If you still have trouble connecting to PayPal, it’s possible something is cached in your browser. Some GiveWP users have had success by logging into their WordPress site in an incognito window and then connecting to PayPal there. After you make the connection incognito, you should be fine moving forward.

If neither of those two things gets you connected, then most likely there’s an issue with your PayPal account and we want to get you connected with PayPal directly to resolve it. We created this intake form to give you more details about this problem and for you to get in touch with PayPal directly. Please make sure you complete the form as completely as possible: https://givewp.com/paypal-onboarding-reports/

The form on that page sends an email directly to PayPal, to a team that we have been told is aware of any issues, and can walk you through connecting. We’re here to help as much as we can, but ultimately they’ll have to help if none of the steps above resolve things.

As a last resort, if all else fails, I’d recommend using a different payment gateway, if possible. My personal favorite is Stripe.

So the steps you suggested for Stripe worked!! Stripe is accepting donations again!! THANK YOU!

PayPal is still not working though. I am getting this message in the dashboard

`Warning, your account is not ready to accept donations.

However when I had called PayPal regarding this, I was told that I had to set up a Pro account to resolve it. Any ideas?

Nevermind. Just tried again in the incognito window and that seemed to have resolved.

Sorry for the delay on that.
