• I’ve been having issues with images being cut off or garbled at the bottoms. I’ve had this issue recently across multiple sites, all of them using Genesis. The issue seems to happen mostly with larger dimension images. I often use long, skinny images as infographics or Pinterest pics, and even my Pinterest browser extension is picking them up as garbled.

The weird thing is, sometimes they are more garbled or cut off than other times, and every once in a while images that have been cut off for days will suddenly be fine for a while, before going back.

In particular right now I am having issues with this site:

    https://tailgatemom.com

It’s password protected behind a coming soon page right now so you will need to log in to see:

    username: helpforum
    password: help123

The problem is generally happening with the first photo in most of the blog posts. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, I have been Googling for days now and have yet to come across a solution or any info! Thanks!

  • Hi,

did you try to uncheck “Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)” box on settings>media. Hope it is that easy:)

This shouldn’t have anything to do with the thumbnail cropping – this is an issue with images inserted into a post at full size. With the login info you can see a few pages that are doing it here:

    https://tailgatemom.com/grand-slam-baseball-crafts/

I get a big white space for the bottom part of the image, and where the image cuts off it’s all screwy. Though, as I said before, every once in a while they load fine. It’s only the photos with the largest dimensions that do this – in this case, it is consistently happening with the first image in a post, ones that are optimized for Pinterest so they are fairly tall.

I was also recently trying to load background images on another site and had this same issue, and I have experienced it as a reader on other blogs as well. And I had to have another client start cropping his photos smaller prior to upload because he was also getting cut off, garbled images. Sometimes with crazy, trippy technicolor stuff going on.

Have you tried deactivating plugins to see if any are causing this? And if no, with them off switching to a default theme to see if the issue is specific to Genesis?

I thought the first image has problems, actually because of i didnt see the original photo each of looks normal on first look. But when i check the codes, i can see there is a empty space bottom of each photo which has the pinterest sharing code. Pinterest share plug-in causes this, but i dont have solution for the problem of plugin. i think people have same problems about plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/support/view/plugin-reviews/pinterest-pin-it-button-for-images

you might consider to use another one

    It wasn’t the Pinterest plugin.

The only workaround I have found is resizing the images smaller files, so that is what I am doing now. It’s an issue I have experienced myself a lot of times on various sites and I’ve noticed affecting other sites that aren’t mine, so I am still curious what is the cause and how it can be resolved or avoided. If anyone else has experienced the same issue and found a fix I would love to hear about it.
