I’m using [email protected] for my client’s “bounce email address” setting in mailpoet (so I can manage their bounces for them) and [email protected] as the “From” address.

When mailpoet sends an email it’s using the bounce email address as the “From”. This is having a severely negative impact on my client’s email delivery because the 2 emails have different domains.

On average, my client writes 2 posts/week and the content is somewhat time-sensitive. Add to that the ongoing battle of IP reputation in providing email services… and you’ll see that this is very important to fix quickly.

Any and all timely assistance is greatly appreciated!
    Chris

    Chris,

Thank you for reporting this. Could you please tell us which sending method you are using? Also, do you set the “from” address individually for each newsletter or are you using the global value from Settings?

    Regards,
    MailPoet Team.

I’m using third party as my sending option, and the from address is set in the MailPoet settings, under the Basics tab.

    Re,

    Which third-party option (SMTP/SendGrid/Amazon SES)?

I’m using ElasticEmail.com, but I don’t have the bounce email address anywhere in my ElasticEmail settings (on my client’s blog, or their ElasticEmail account).

Perfect! Please stay tuned while we figure out what’s happening.

    Re,

We are sorry, but we are unable to replicate the issue. We’ve just tried sending using SMTP with the following providers and every time the recipient received an e-mail from the correct “from” address with the “return-path” (i.e., “bounce”) header set to the bounce address: Elastic, SendGrid, Amazon SES, Gmail and our local server.

We did notice that when you preview the message in Elastic’s control panel under Reports->Email Logs, it does show the bounce address instead of the “from” address: https://i.imgur.com/vMxPfG1.png However, once you click on “Email Headers” on the same screen, or view the delivered message, it shows the correct “from” address: https://i.imgur.com/dpMzTsU.png

If you wish, we can take a closer look but will need you to contact us by using the feedback icon on any of our plugin pages.

    Regards,
    MailPoet Team.
