Brackets and underscores stripped from clues

I’m trying to show clues where the word they need to solve is located mid sentence (for example, Cross____ puzzle), and to do this, I had added underscores for the blanks. They seem to be getting stripped out from the clues, though, which make the clues impossible to understand. I also had brackets in some areas for further explanation, and those are being stripped out too. Please help!
